One hundred percent is a saying thrown around quite often and was the original Rotten T score for Fire of Love, which like 3.99 gas prices, is now down a whopping reduction to 99%.
Being a humanist, on the opposite spectrum of scientist, I can not give Fire of Love a hundred percent, nor a 99, and it’s all because I’m Barbara Streisand (or is it StreiSAND) singing “People”. Sure, Fire of Love is a tremendous love story due to the highly unlikely probability of two kooks meeting who were both willing to risk their lives to chase volcanic eruptions?
Most enjoyable to me, besides the uber cool video footage, were the universal truths eeked out: Katia’s saying the ‘curiosity is stronger than fear’. As well as the writers’ saying, “we fall for what we know, but fall harder for what we don’t”.
However, the film does not cover enough of their personal aspects to help me care. They should have named it, “V for for Vulcan Velocity” because the stars of the show were the crazy great footage of the volcanoes. And I did learn about volcanoes, who knew the difference between the red hot and gray? I won’t spoil the fun by telling you. I’m just looking forward to my next human equivalent of a gray one.
So who’s to blame for the 10% I’m deducting? I’d say the writers: Shane Boris, Erin Casper, and Jocelyn Chaput. Or to be far less arrogant, blame me for loving the more fun human details of people’s lives over the science of rocks and lava.
