The Jesus Music: Holy Trilogy of Tears

At one point while watching The Jesus Music at AMC Sarasota, I thought, very un-Christian-like, “who are the dicks on Rotten Tomatoes who didn’t like this?” but then…the movie keeps going and going. Then I had to reverse track and say, I’m one of those dicks.
I was moved to tears three times, once regarding the power of singing in unison after 9/11, once about a man’s shame about his alcohol abuse, and last about a Christian singer losing his son to drug abuse.
Unfortunately, these beautiful moments get buried in the woke movement of including everyone (and I almost mean EVERYONE in the WORLD) who sings contemporary Jesus, Contemporary Christian or Worship-name your genre du jour.
Hence, my script doctor scalpel comes out: chop the first 8 minutes where you tell me what you’re going tell me, the end 8 minutes where you review your objective (it was clearly obvious), reduce the number of folks you pile on and add more music, as in at least half a song (say three, since that’s a magic Christian number and good ol’ writers’ rule.
Worth seeing for its poignancy, but be prepared to get ansty.
